Now Available Online: NYSERDA Energy Code Webinar Series  

Over the past two months, SWA hosted a series of ten webinars to educate industry practitioners on recent updates to the NYS Energy Code. Presented by NYSERDA, the sessions include topics such as, “Passive House and Net Zero Energy,” “Solar in the City – Local Law 94,” and “2018 IECC Summary of Commercial Mandatory Requirements.” If you were unable to attend the live presentations, you can watch a free recording of any session via the link below.

Passive House: An Alternative Compliance Path to Toronto Green Standard Tier 3 

In the most recent version of the Toronto Green Standard (TGS), the Passive House standard is offered as an alternative compliance path to TGS Tier 3. With this alternative compliance path, one obvious question comes to mind: What is the major difference in required component efficiency for a multifamily building in Toronto that is looking to meet either the Passive House standard or TGS Tier 3?

As members of the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) community, we are very excited about the recent study conducted by Freddie Mac, which determined that homes rated under RESNET’s HERS program between 2013 and 2017 were sold for an average of 2.7% more than comparable unrated homes.
