The intent of this requirement is to allow a person to use the toe of a wheelchair or leading edge of another mobility device to push the door open while moving through it. Welcome Andy Yarrish!

Image of Accessible parking garageWe are pleased to announce that Andy Yarrish, AIA, has joined our growing DC-based Accessibility Team as a Senior Accessibility Consultant. Andy graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from Catholic University, Washington DC and is a member of the American Institute of Architects. Previously a consultant with Universal Designers & Consultants, a renowned Maryland-based accessibility consulting firm, Andy brings many years of experience working in the field of accessibility on a wide variety of project types. For SWA, Andy will focus primarily on our growing book of commercial business, including hospitality, retail, office, and other project types. “We’re delighted to have Andy join our team,” said Peter Stratton, Managing Director, Accessibility Services, “Having someone with Andy’s expertise and deep bench of experience is incredibly valuable; we’re excited to learn from Andy and for what he’ll bring to our team.”
