NYSERDA Announces Empire Building Challenge Partnerships

"We simply cannot meet climate goals without changing the way we think about, manage, and operate existing buildings. Steven Winter Associates, Inc. (SWA) is proud to be supporting this evolution by working alongside NYSERDA and New York State's top real estate partners, as part of the Empire Building Challenge, to develop and implement scalable projects that will reduce carbon emissions in buildings across the state," stated Marc Zuluaga, CEO of Steven Winter Associates. The firm was selected as a solutions provider to help real estate partners to achieve the challenge’s goals.

The ten announced real estate partners will accelerate New York's progress toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions 85 percent by 2050. Collectively, they control over 130 million square feet of real estate in New York State.

New Podcast Episode: Building Comradery with Steven Winter

Fostering comradery is one of SWA’s five company principles that represent the foundation of our values and success. Collaboration, mutual respect, and creating a welcoming community have been core tenants of SWA’s business since its inception nearly 50 years ago! As we work together to make the world more sustainable and equitable, we wonder what the value is in having close working relationships with colleagues, clients, and even competitors.

Steven Winter joins us this month to discuss the many shapes that comradery takes both within SWA and the industry as a whole, and how it has been key to the firm’s success for day-to-day operations, major company transitions, and even a global pandemic.
