SWA Project Wins Big Apple Brownfield Award for Environmentally Responsible Building

Located in the Bronx, 4697 Third Ave represents a true transformation. The project is a redevelopment of a former automobile junkyard into an eight-story, mixed-use building that provides 53 affordable and low-income units.

In addition to the positive impact of being a brownfield recovery project, 4697 Third Ave is designed and constructed to meet Passive House standards, capturing significant energy savings while mitigating environmental impact.

In this episode, host Kelly Westby chats with Sarah Nugent, Sustainability Director at SWA, about the intersection of health, wellness, and sustainability in buildings, and why project teams need to take a holistic, proactive approach to all three.
